Amarillo Sod Poodles

The Project

In 2024, the Visua Crew traveled to Amarillo, Texas, to launch a dynamic installation project at Hodgetown Stadium. This initiative aimed to enhance the game-day experience for fans, increase visibility for sponsors, and showcase Visua’s creative capabilities. The installation featured bold channel letters identifying key areas of the ballpark and a striking 445-foot ribbon board encircling the concourse—designed to maximize fan engagement and create a fully immersive stadium environment.

The Challenge

The Amarillo Sod Poodles' goal for this project was to elevate their ballpark with a more modern, Major League–inspired atmosphere while also increasing sponsorship revenue. The area where the new ribbon board now resides was previously filled with numerous backlit sponsorship signs. While effective for advertising, these static signs limited the Sod Poodles’ opportunities for dynamic and flexible sponsorship activations. Complicating the upgrade was the board's location—mounted on the fascia above the seating bowl. Accessing this area for maintenance or service would typically require a boom lift and removal of the safety netting, making standard front-service LED displays impractical. Visua was brought in to remove the legacy signage and design a sleek, cohesive LED ribbon board that could seamlessly follow the unique curvature of the stadium’s fascia. The Visua team designed a fully custom solution in-house, integrating cutting-edge LED technology while overcoming the unique architectural and accessibility challenges of the space.

The Solution

After thoughtful planning, the Visua team delivered a comprehensive solution that balanced innovation with practicality. Rather than discarding the existing sponsorship signs, they were strategically relocated throughout the concourse and at both ends of the new ribbon board—preserving their value while giving them new visibility.

In their place, Visua installed a 445-foot VisuaRibbonX LED ribbon board, a top-service display engineered specifically for challenging installations like this one. With VisuaRibbonX, each module can be easily accessed from above—allowing the team to simply slide a module out without disrupting game-day operations or requiring heavy equipment. To complement the upgrade, bold channel letters were added to improve wayfinding and enhance the fan experience. As part of the overall renovation, Visua also provided the Sod Poodles with a subscription to the VirtCh greenroom, giving the new display a high-energy content launch tailored to the team’s brand.

The Result

On Friday, April 5th, 2024, the Sod Poodles kicked off their season with the debut of their newly upgraded ballpark, featuring the VisuaLED ribbon board, bold channel letters, and thoughtfully repositioned sponsorship signage. The dynamic ribbon board keeps fans engaged and connected from every seat in the stadium, creating a more immersive game-day experience. These enhancements not only elevate the fan environment but also open the door for long-term sponsorship activation and memorable moments for years to come.
